About the Client, Employer, or Organization: We are a newly established manufacturing company specializing in custom service trucks, founded by an industry veteran with over 25 years of experience in industrial and product design. After a successful career in building these vehicles, we’ve returned to meet the needs of a long-standing customer and are building a lean, highly skilled team to bring this product back into production—with improvements and modern updates.

Job or Opportunity Description:
We’re looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer / Product Designer to help recreate and enhance a proven service truck design. This role bridges design, engineering, and production, working closely with a small but skilled team of about 10 people. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in sheet metal design and SolidWorks, with the willingness to learn programming for CNC ready drawings and optimize designs for manufacturability.

key responsibilities

  • Recreate and modernize an established service truck design originally developed 25 years ago

  • Use SolidWorks (Sheet Metal) to produce accurate 3D models and detailed drawings.

  • Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and machinists to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and efficient

  • Work primarily with aluminum fabrication processes, ensuring strength, precision, and weight efficiency

  • Contribute to continuous product improvement—suggesting design updates, manufacturing efficiencies, and modern material applications

  • Support a small-scale, high-output shop environment (approx. 10 staff, including ~6 welders)

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a rare opportunity to build a company and product line from the ground up

  • Work directly with a founder who has deep expertise in the industry

  • See your designs move from screen to shop floor in real-time

  • Contribute to building trucks as an industrial designer

qualifications

  • Strong background in industrial/product design, preferably with experience in vehicle or equipment manufacturing

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks with a focus on sheet metal design

  • Willingness to learn programming CNC equipment (punches, brakes, plasma tables) from CAD models

  • Hands-on understanding of aluminum fabrication and welding

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt and improve legacy designs

  • Comfortable working in a small, highly collaborative team environment
